DASNY MWBE Outreach Event Buffalo July 2014 FINAL
.

(Albany, NY) In support of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s commitment to maximize opportunity for New York businesses, DASNY (the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York ) will host a business outreach and networking reception on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Buffalo Hyatt Regency from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

DASNY has invited key state and local agencies and authorities; leading construction management companies and representatives from Buffalo’s major economic project drivers to join them for this complimentary and interactive MWBE event.

“Last year, under Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s leadership, the utilization of minority-– and women- owned businesses in state contracts reached a record 21.06 %. In all, $1,488 billion in contracts from a total of 97 public agencies and authorities were awarded to Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs) in FY 2012-2013,” said DASNY President Paul T. Williams, Jr. “Events like this will help ensure that MWBE firms are aware of the possibilities available to them so that we can continue to build upon our past success.”

Information about upcoming procurement and bid opportunities will be provided, along with guidance on how to pursue new business opportunities in Western New York. Key presentations include: an overview of the NYS Contract System, including how prime contractors and subcontractors can benefit from it, and a panel discussion moderated by Michael M. Clay, DASNY Director,Opportunity Programs Group, where state and local agency MWBE representatives will discuss strategies for success in achieving 20% MWBE participation on projects.

The conversation continues after the presentations with a networking reception where attendees will be able to speak with key project managers and business owners.

Interested business owners are asked to send a RSVP to DASNYinWNY@gmail.com by July 18, 2014.
